Our Story

Where Tradition Meets Culinary Excellence

Founded in 2020 amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Dapoq Schombi is the visionary creation of renowned celebrity wedding dress designer Shanell Harun. Inspired by his love for culinary artistry and a cherished secret family recipe, Shanell brings the comforting flavors of his mother’s kitchen to life in every dish.

At Dapoq Schombi, we specialize in the beloved dishes of Penang’s wedding feasts, including our signature Nasi Kenduri, a crowd favorite that has delighted taste buds across Malaysia. Even local celebrities like Tok Ti (Siti Nurhaliza), Uqasha Senrose, Ernie Zakri, and Syamel have given their stamp of approval to our extraordinary flavours.

The owner of Dapoq Schombi JB, Badrol Hisham hails from Kuala Lumpur and brings with him over 27 years of corporate experience. In 2021, he expanded his vision by establishing Dapoq Schombi in Johor Bahru, located at Taman Molek. A true foodie at heart, Badrol is a well-travelled connoisseur, always on the lookout for the best food in town. His culinary passion goes beyond just Malay cuisine. He is a self-taught chef who enjoys experimenting with a wide range of flavors, from traditional Malay dishes to Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean, Indian and Western cuisines. This love for diverse culinary arts has made him the go-to chef for his friends, who enjoy the delightful meals he had crafted with creativity and skill. At Dapoq Schombi JB, Badrol brings the same adventurous spirit to the kitchen, ensuring that each dish served is packed with authentic flavor and made with the freshest ingredients, just like the traditional Malay wedding feasts that inspired the brand.
